I’m the Only Real Artist Left! – Hubby Africana Sparks Online Firestorm

Emerging Gen Z artist Hubby Africana has sparked widespread debate online following a bold statement he recently shared on his Facebook page.

In the post, Hubby positioned himself as the last “real” artist standing, suggesting that many of his peers have shifted their focus from making music to creating social media content. He wrote with clear confidence: “Mimi ndo msanii nimebaki🤔 hao wengine wamekua content creator😂😂 very soon mtanielewa #mnyama is coming stay tuned 🔥💯.”

Despite the controversy, Hubby Africana is not entirely new to the coastal music scene. He gained recognition after appearing in the first edition of Kilifi All Stars 2025 a competition organised by COCO FM, where he finished in seventh place with 258 votes. The competition helped bring him closer to fans and gave him a platform to showcase his talent.

During the contest, he performed his track “Ndakukunda,” a song that introduced him to a wider audience. The record highlighted his ability to blend romantic themes with contemporary sounds that resonate with a younger generation.

His recent remarks also appear to be part of a calculated promotional move, especially with the hint “#mnyama is coming,” suggesting new music on the way.

The question now is whether Hubby Africana is deliberately setting himself apart to build a distinct brand—or simply stirring controversy. Either way, the real test will be in his upcoming releases. In the music industry, statements may grab attention, but ultimately, it is the quality of the music that defines an artist’s staying power.
