George Kithi Breaks Silence on Claims of Bringing Zuchu to Kilifi for New Year’s Eve
A city lawyer cum politician, George Kithi, has finally set the record straight regarding claims that he was behind plans to bring Tanzanian music star Zuchu to Kilifi County.
Speaking during an influencers’ gala held at a hotel in Kilifi Ocean Shores, the lawyer said he was equally shocked to be dragged into the narrative as the promoter of the alleged event, terming the claims as false and fabricated.
He revealed that he went further to inquire from Zuchu’s management to establish who the actual promoter was purported to be bringing the artist to his home county.
Addressing the influencers, the lawyer urged them to use their platforms to create awareness on voter registration, particularly among Gen Z.
“If a story with no basis can trend that much, it means you have a lot of trust among your followers. That shows how powerful you influencers are. Use these platforms to encourage Gen Z and everyone else to register as voters. They trust and follow almost everything you tell them. They do not trust politicians, but they trust you,” said George Kithi.
For context, there has been an online buzz suggesting that Zuchu would perform in Kilifi County during the New Year crossover vigil. However, the claims have drawn mixed reactions, with some notable artists opposing the idea. They argue that while Zuchu earns millions performing in Kenya, many local artists continue to struggle financially.
The Kilifi Content Creators Gala, organised by Coco FM in partnership with the George Kithi Foundation and Ndani Media, aims to enhance content creation, equip influencers with skills to monetise their work, and promote collaboration for positive and sustainable growth within the digital space.
